Larry Alexander custom built a home for us on a challenging piece of waterfront property, under a cost plus contract, and we are exceptionally pleased with the results. Larry has long experience building quality homes, pays attention to detail and as a result ensures very high quality in the finished product. We were particularly impressed with the amount of time he spent making sure he understood what we wanted and avoiding a mismatch of expectations and results. This was our first time building a home and Larry devoted a lot of time in advance showing us finishing details and examples so we could make informed decisions about what our home should look like. On a property like ours management of water run-off is critical for long term stability and this was a key focal point for Larry throughout the design and execution process. As the general contractor we expected him to resolve a lot of issues on our behalf and he did, including permits, utilities, access and even neighbour concerns. He is a very proactive problem solver in this regard.
During and following construction we had a few items where the final result was not as attractive or functional as we had anticipated. Of course it is always better to avoid late changes, but for every one of these items Larry worked closely with us and was extremely helpful in pointing out alternatives and helping us find a cost effective solution. Post construction, Larry has continued to follow up on final details and remaining items to ensure we were pleased with the final result.
We are extremely happy with the home that he has built for us and also the way he conducted the business during design and construction. We would have no hesitation in selecting Larry Alexander to build another home for us should the opportunity arise.

Building our dream home on the West Coast was something we had looked forward to for years. So, the builder had to be outstanding – and we have to say, Alexander Enterprises really fits that description. From the planning sessions at Larry’s kitchen table, through the many months of site preparation and building, to the finishing touches, the whole process was quite stress free. Of course, we had differences of opinion, but they were always discussed with respect and attention to detail, then resolved to mutual satisfaction. Any building project has its tense moments, but Larry’s excellent communication style, long experience and sense of humour made the process efficient and enjoyable. How many people can say that at the end of a build? We are perfectionists, and so is he. His insistence on “getting it right” and the quality tradespeople he attracts, were key to the end product – our unique, beautiful West Coast home. We love it! We already have friends building their retirement dream home with Larry, and would recommend Alexander Enterprises to others with enthusiasm.
